Protection Against Fire in Historical Buildings and Evaluation of the Fire Legislation

In this paper, fundamental parameters were given for fire safety on historical buildings in order to contribute to the works done for the protection of historical buildings that are part of cultural heritage. The movable and immovable cultural properties are the historical treasures of countries that extent from past to future. Each cultural property is a document which reflects the levels of civilization and development of nations lived in that country. In this context, these cultural properties must be submitted as common heritage of all the world and they must be protected for the next generations. The historical buildings are very important for various aspects. They illustrate us the settlements, the design principles, material info and the usage resources, the life styles of users, the neighbourhood in the past. From past to day, most of the historical buildings were extinct by the time. The most important natural disaster that make the buildings extinct is the fire. In the fire protection of historical buildings, it is very essential to have knowledge about the material and the methods in order to take precautions which are entegrated with the design and the general structure. In this study, the information about the fire protection works on historical buildings is explained and the fire regulations related the subject are examined
