Evaluating in Terms of Internationalization of the Faculty of Theology at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University

Abstract:

In a globalized world, internationalization is an inevitable phenomenon. The impact of internationalization in every field on education and training activities also affects higher education. From this point of view, it is expected that academicians working in universities in our country will give important clues to shape our future and to catch up with the level of modern civilizations. Based on this fundamental problem, it is the main purpose of this study to determine the perspective of academicians working in the Faculty of Theology for the internationalization of their university. As a sample, academicians of the Faculty of Theology at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University have formed. In this study, a mixed research method was used, where both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together. The quantitative data were evaluated and general conclusions were drawn on the basis of the institution. In addition, the results of the study were supported with qualitative data. In addition to the fact that the study is an interdisciplinary study due to both theology and educational sciences, it is possible to evaluate the subject of internationalization as an original study because of the study of the first faculty of theology. At the end of the study, the faculty members of the newly established Faculty of Theology at Hatay MKU were put forward about the internationalization about the universities. As a result of the quantitative findings, it is unclear whether the academics do not have a parallel understanding of the motivation / support sub-dimension of their universities to encourage students to international mobility and that the university mission supports internationalization, and that there are not enough technological resources available for international research in universities. In addition, it is stated that there are no courses to improve the internationalization skills of academics, academicians who are interested in internationalization are not rewarded, policies that support internationalization are not enough, there is not enough support to participate in international activities; It was observed that there is not enough financial support in the studies, the organizational structure responsible for its internationalization is not enough, the main source of its motivation for internationalization is not the policies implemented in this regard, the institutional investment on the professional development opportunities of the academician is not enough and the internationalization of the curriculum is not sufficient.
