Abstract:

The aim of the study is to reveal the effects of occupational health and safety practices in public hospitals on the performance of employees. The population of the study is composedpermanent staff of 4 public hospitals in Burdur province as of May 2016. The sampling method was used easily in the study. In order to reach 554 employees, 800 questionnaires were sent, of which 570 were returned and 554 questionnaires were taken into consideration. The data were collected by using the work safety scale, occupational health and safety scale and work performance scale. Multiple Regression analysis was used to determine Pearson Correlation analysis and effects to determine the relationships between sub-factors of OHS applications, which are independent variables, job performance. As a result of the research, it is seen that all of the sub-dimensions of OHS applications have positive directional linear relation with job performance, and according to the results of multiple regression analysis, health screening and recording systems, materials, equipment and protective measures and rules sub-dimensions have a positive effect on work performance. The rate of exposure to verbal or physical violence by the patients or their relatives is 90.2% and the rate of exposure to verbal or physical violence by hospital employees is 57.2%.This high rate reveals violence and mobbing in public hospitals
