THE DIFFERENCES AND COMPARISONS OF STUDENTS IN THEIR CAPABILITY TO THE SOME CONCEPTS OF GENERAL BIOLOGY IN THE LIFE SCIENCES AND SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS IN KüTAHYA DUMLUPINAR UNIVERSITY

This study is performed for understanding of General Biology concepts among the life and social science students still continuing their study in Kütahya Dumlup？nar University. This research is performed by forming sampling groups by chance among the students of different faculties belong to Kütahya Dumlup？nar University between the years of 2014 and 2015. Data was obtained by obtaining answers to survey questions and then organising and analysing by SPSS 20 statistics software package and then results were evaluated. Meaningful difference limit is determined as 0.05. The number of students joined for our study were 1004. The total percentage of individuals in the study were composed of 61.7% female and 38.3% male. The total number of individuals in the study were composed of 505 students in life science majors and 499 students in social science majors. The students in the study were presented with a survey formed with General Biology concepts used in daily life. The question limit in survey is determined as 20 and we are faced with differences in every each answer to question after analysis and evaluation results. This situation indicates that students are far in understanding of the Biological Sciences. In the direction of our aims, the causes of these problems and statements of solutions to them were expressed in introduction, discussion and results of this article. The interest of students to Biology Sciences looks seriously diminished by the problems of opportunities in the field of education, basic science in daily life, Basic Science fields of The Higher Education Institution and job and employment. We discovered that there are important deficiencies in the transmission and training of Biological Sciences and developments in this field to individuals
