Comparison of the Effects on the Postoperative Analgesia of Bupivacaine or Ropivacaine Application on Intraperitoneal and Incisional Line during Ovariohysterectomy in DogsKeywords: Bupivacaine,k?pek, postoperatif a?r?,ropivacain Abstract: In this study, it was aimed to compare the effect of postoperative analgesia of bupivacaine and ropivacaine locally applied on intraperitoneal or incisional line under general anesthesia in dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy. Dogs which were operated ovariohysterectomy under xylazine-ketamine general anesthesia were divided two groups, 8 animals in each. During the operation, in the first group (BG, n = 8) bupivacaine was administered to three different points, namely the incision line between the corpus and cervix uteri (I), intraperitoneal (II) and muscle incision line (III). In the other group (RG, n = 8), ropivacaine was applied to these three points in a similar manner and the operation was routinely completed. Pulse, respiratory rate and body temperature measurements were performed at 2th, 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th and 24th hours postoperatively. Similarly, at the same time each dog was evaluated using Simple Descriptive Pain Scale (SDS), Melbourne pain scale and Glaskow composite pain scales. Pulse, respiratory rate and body temperature values were among the reference limits, although there were statistical differences especially among the groups in terms of pulse. According to the evaluation results of SDS and Melbourne pain scale, a statistical difference was found between BG and RG at postoperative 4th and 6th hours (P<0.001, P=0.003). The results of the Glaskow composite pain scale showed a statistically significant difference (P<0.001). between the groups at 4th hour. As a result, when the data obtained without study were evaluated together, it was concluded that bupivacaine, a long-acting local anesthetic, is more potent than ropivacaine in postoperative analgesic effect of incisional and intraperitoneal use in ovariohysterectomy operations in dogs
