Investigation of social skill and conflict management skill status in peer relations of university studentsKeywords: üniversite ??rencisi,Sosyal beceri,?at??ma y?netimi,Akran ili?kileri Abstract: Introduction and Objective: The impact of the social environment on social skills and conflict management is important. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the factors affecting the level of social skill and conflict management ability and to explain the relationship between this two variables in university students. Materials and Methods: In the questionnaire study using “Social Skill Inventory Scale” and “Conflict Resolution Scale”, ?zmir Ege University was determined as the population. The sample of this study was selected by simple random sampling method from the students who continue their education at the vocational higher schools in the Ege University’s central campus. A total of 215 students took part in the study. In data analysis, frequency distribution and percentages were used and chi-square test was used to determine the difference between variables. Findings: Social skill level of 68,4% of participants was determined as moderate and 31,6% of participants was determined as high. Participation in cultural activities, regular recruitment and participation in college student communities are influential at the level of social skills. Conflict management skill level of 9,8% of participants was low, 56,7% of participants was moderate and 33,5% of participants was high. Results: Type of school, class, gender, cultural activities, regular occupation and participation in student communities are influential in conflict management skills. It is also seen that conflict resolution skills of university students with high social skills are more developed
