Tourist Guides Role in Tourist Satisfaction: A Research in KonyaKeywords: Turist Rehberli?i,turist memnuniyeti,turist deneyimi,ileti?im becerileri Abstract: Purpose and Importance: The aim of this study is to reveal the importance of communication skills of tourist guides directly affecting the satisfaction of tourist and to identify these skills. When people who participate in tourism activities go to a tourist destination that they do not know at all, one of the services they need most can be referred to as guidance services. Guidance services are also provided by tourist guides. The tourist guide is the person who best describe the geography, city and country in which he / she lives and is a citizen who introduces the destination best. Effective and accurate communication skills are extremely important for tourist guides to promote Tourists who choose our country as a tourist destination,. The main purpose of communication is to provide information, to establish harmonious relationships, and to have an effective role in communication decision-making. Therefore, it can bring with it satisfaction or dissatisfaction in general. Methodology: In this study, quantitative research method was used to obtain data. In order to measure the role of the tourist guide on tourist satisfaction, a survey was conducted on domestic and foreign tourists coming to Konya. Alshatnawi’s (2014) “Communication Skills Scale” and Oh et al. (2007) “Experience Scale” were used in the same way and data were obtained from tourists. Büyükkuru M. (2015) used the same scales in his master thesis “The Effect of Communication Skills of Tour Guides on Tour Experience of Tourists: A Research in Nev?ehir Province”. The questionnaires were prepared in Turkish and English. The population of the research is the tourists coming to Konya. Since the universe is very large, sampling was taken from the universe. The researcher applied the questionnaire through face-to-face interviews with willing participants from the groups he / she provided guidance. 330 people form the sample via easy sampling method. The research is limited to Konya city center. Findings: 50.3% of the tourists participating in the study consists of domestic tourists, 47.3% of foreign tourists. 59.4% of the tourists are women and 40.6% are men. The tour is attended by 98.2% of the tourists participating in the survey and lasts for one day. 50.5% of tourists are the source of information about Konya Travel Agency. Subsequently, the source of information is “family and friends”, “handbook”, and “internet”.
