Psychological resilience in nursing studentsAbstract: Objective: Aim of this study is to examine the psychological resilience of the nursing students in terms of various socio-demographic characteristics. Materials and Methods: The universe of the descriptive study was composed of all the students of the nursing department of a state university located in the Eastern Black Sea Region (337 persons) and no sample selection was chosen (n = 276, response rate: 81.89%). The questionnaire consists of 33 questions and contains the " Resilience Scale for Adults ". This sclar (created by Friborg et al) translated into Turkish and analysed in the terms of "validity and vredibility" by Bas?m and ?etin. The data collected face to face. The data of the study were collected in 2014 academic year. The descriptive variables are given in number and percentage. Non-parametric tests (Mann Whitneyui and Kruskall Wallis) were performed because of the characteristic of variables.p <0.05 was accepted as statistical significance level. Results: The average age of the students was 20.70±1.70 (min: 17 max: 27), 34.4% were male and 65.6% were female. 68.5% of the participants said that they chose the section with delight and willingly. Now, 77.9% of those who love the department. In terms of psychological resilience; it was found that women in the third grade of the ones who spend most of their lives in the village had higher average scores (p <0.05). They also found that they had higher average scores (p <0.05) in their perceptions of non-acceptance and non-interrogation. The average score point of the students in the study was found to be average. Conclusion: This study, variable factors like age, level of aducation of parents, occupation of parents and their smoking habits were found insignificant (p>0.05) in terms of calculating the point average. The study revealed that the factors of gender, family type, area of residence, grade and selecting nursing education willingly/unwillingly play important role in psychological strength
