Abstract:

This research tries to determine the contributions of faculty of educations to the schools in the cities where the faculties are located, so that possible deficiencies can be detected and corrected by employing strategies generated according to findings of the study. Deep interview technique was used to gather data. Study group consisted of administrators and teachers of schools in Artvin. A total of 10 participants including 5 teachers and 5 administrators were interviewed. Maximum variation sampling technique was used to compose the study group. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used as the data collection instrument. Teachers and administrators expect the education faculty to make contributions to professional development of teachers and to developing joint projects. It is understood that faculty of education should contribute to the social life in city and bridge the gap between theory and practice. The contributions of the faculty to the professional development of educators were done by helping in workshops and in-service trainings during seminar periods. Activities done during seminar periods are found to be ineffective, so they should be done during intermediary periods
