Participative Administration and Australian Election System

Countries can implement different electoral systems according to their social structures, political conditions and preferences of politicians. They can even create new and original systems by adapting different systems to themselves. Depending on the system implemented, the votes are distributed and the representatives who will serve in parliament for a certain period of time are determined. The electoral system is also determinative for the creation of a good governance that establishes the mutual relationship between the ruling and the electorate and the basic principles of this relationship. For a political administration shaped on a good governance network, there is a need for a system of elections in which a broad participatory democratic election and the will of voters can be reflected in an impartial manner. In this study, the country-specific electoral system implemented in Australia was addressed in terms of good governance principles, and in particular the dimension of participation. While the system encourages democratic participation of voters because all voters can influence the outcome of the votes on the one hand, it provides the candidates' accountability and the development of clear and effective political discourse. By the mutual interaction between the electorate and the candidate in the electoral system implemented in Australia, good governance principles such as participation, accountability, accountability and impartiality in management are also fulfilled.
