Analysis of Student Expenditures at Cukurova University

This study analyzes socioeconomic status, expenditures of Cukurova University students and their perceptions towards the university in the period of 2016-2017. For this purpose, 1851 students were surveyed face-to-face in 75 departments of 19 schools. Kolmogorov-Smirnov (Lilliefors), Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied to test the significance of differences between incomes and expenditures of students. The results indicate that the majority of the students were from Adana and neighboring provinces; the majority of the families live under the poverty line; male students' family income and individual income were higher than females but not significantly different; male students’ housing expenditure is significantly higher than female students; and educational expenditures of the students whose parents are unemployed are higher than those of the other
