THE IMPACT OF PERCEIVED STRESS ON THE LINK BETWEEN RESISTANCE TO CHANGE AND CREATIVITY: A STUDY ON ACADEMICIANS

Purpose- The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of the resistance to change on creativity of academicians working in higher education institutions, which are historically open to the economically and politically-directed changes in Turkey. Methodology- The study was carried out with a regression analysis using a questionnaire technique on a sample of 115 academicians. Findings- It was found that all theoretically identified dimensions of rtc negatively affects the academicians’ creativity and also that the respondents’ stress level fully mediate the proposed link between rtc and creativity. Conclusion- Resistance to change decreases the level of creativity by increasing the respondents’ stress level in this profession group, who are expected to find new theories, methods and applications, negatively affect this process
