THE GENDER BASED ON +lI/+lU and +sIz/+sUz SUFFIXES

Although there are no gender categories in Turkish, gender is seen in some words. This situation is at the basis of their biological characteristics in a variety of forms, in particular linguistic or vocabulary. When +lI/+lU suffix shows presence, +sIz/+sUz suffix shows absence, inadequacy. These suffixes are added to the word to show that it is subject to a certain gender (due to the biological properties of the word). This position is arised mostly due to the adjective function of +lI/+lU and +sIz/+sUz construct suffixes. The examples given with +lI/+lU and +sIz/+sUz construct suffixes certainly do not prove that the grammatical gender is in Turkish. Especially these suffixes indicate that due to the creation of gender-related forms of nouns and adjectives. In this article focuses on the relationship between the words of the “Turkish Dictionary [Türk？e S？zlük] (2011)” and the meaning of the +lI/+lU and +sIz/+sUz construct suffixes. 69 words were determined in the general research and then evaluated within the scope of the gender. Detailed explanations and examples have been given about this topic and some ideas have been put forward at the end of the research
