Analyzing Inbreeding in Universities in Terms of Academic Freedom

In this research, it is aimed to analyze how the inbreeding in universities influences the research applications of academic members, based on their own opinions in the context of academic freedom. This study, which is carried out in line with this aim, has been carried out with the phenomenological approach which is one of the qualitative research models. The research data were obtained by in - depth interviews and the participants were determined by the maximum diversity method which is one of the purpose sampling techniques. The data obtained as a result of the interviews were analyzed by content analysis and tried to reveal meaningful themes. As a result of the analysis, participants' opinions were gathered under the themes of "Scientific Research and Scientific Knowledge Production", "Identifying Research Problems", "Academic Freedom" and "Working as a Teaching Member in the Department of Ph.D”. The resulting themes were presented in support of the quotations from the participants' statements and discussed within the context of related literature
