The Applicability of the Principles of Corporate Governance to Cooperatives in Turkey

In terms of the number of cooperatives, Turkey is the second country with the highest number in the European Union. On the contrary, Turkish cooperatives is at a low ebb concerning number of members and trading volume. This information shows that Turkish cooperatives have problems to grow. One of the obstacles to growth is administrative difficulties. The concept of corporate governance is thought to contribute to overcoming managerial difficulties. The principles of corporate governance are equality, transparency, accountability and responsibility.
