Abstract:

In order to text books being one of the most important materials of education process are transformed to ideal text books, examining text books in terms of some features also plays a part among things to do. The aim of this research is to investigate Social Studies text book prepared in accordance with new curriculum in 2017 – 2018 education year for 5th grades students in the sense of physical, educational, visual design, language and manner of telling features. In this research, document review and content analysis being from quantitative research methods are used. In consequence of research conducted, it is clear that new Social Studies text book for 5th grade students is different from previous text books with regards to physical, visual and educational features. Sighted important variables in terms of educational qualities are decreasing the number of units, extinguishing students’ work book and locating activities which were in the work book to the text book. Being excel of quality paper of the book, being vivacious and attractive of visuals used in the book are from features making new text book superior in the sense of visual design. With the alterations made, it is possible to say that new text book is prepared at the level of influencing education activities positively
