Students’ Evaluations of Change and Continuity in the Context of Their Experience in Social Studies Classes: Hospitality Example*Keywords: de?i?im ve süreklilik,sosyal bilgiler,misafirperverlik Abstract: One of the skills aimed at gaining students in social studies curriculum is the ability to perceive change and continuity. The aim of this study is to introduce the evaluation of the students' change and continuity in social studies courses by starting from the example of hospitality which is one of the important elements of our culture. The study group of the study consisted of 15 students in a middle school in Sakarya, who attended the 5th class in 2017-2018 education years. The study is based on focus group interviews conducted with the students in the social studies course on hospitality research, lectures and oral history. This research is a case study of descriptive research methods. The data were evaluated by a descriptive analysis and the following results were obtained. Students expressed that they mostly perceived change and continuity in oral history and course process. In the course of the lesson, the use of stories and videos to give varied daily refreshments to the village room games has attracted the attention of the students. They stated that they were most difficult to write reports during the research phase. They reported that they were aware of the changes in the oral history process and the continuity of their interviews with people over the age of 60 at most. They have also come up with inferences about how your hospitality will change in the future
