Local Governments in Turkey And An Overview Of The System To Public Transport: The Case Of Ankara Mun？c？pality

Urban public transport systems are one of the primary areas of responsibility of local governments; The basic rights of urban residents to benefit from a comfortable, and safe transportation service. Urban infrastructure and superstructure services without interrupting the urban culture and history and planning of urban transportation services in this direction are among the most important activities that a city should plan. For this reason, it is essential that the central government and in particular the local administrations ensure that the urban transportation services can be made safely and comfortably. It is obvious that rail systems and bus lines are indispensable priorities for a city in order to ensure the safe and healthy transportation of the residents of the city. In this context, in this study, the services provided by the municipality in urban transportation in Ankara were observed by using qualitative analysis method. In this respect, the legislation on local governments and the reports of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality were used. In this study, the importance of public transportation systems for the cities was discussed, and within the framework of the duties and responsibilities of local administrations regarding public transportation, an evaluation of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in terms of public transportation was made and opinions and suggestions were expressed in the conclusion section
