Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a local scale about determining the empowerment attitudes of personnel who are working in hotel enterprises with three or upper stars in Diyarbakir. The determination of the attitudes of the hotel personnel towards for empowerment is very important in order to maintain the sustainability of the hotel businesses trying to provide services in a competitive environment. Hotel managers can increase the satisfaction of the guests with the services provided and create a customer loyalty. For this reason, employees should be supported by the empowerment practices in order to minimize the problems that may arise between the employees and service users. Structural equation modeling was used in order to develop a local personnel empowerment scale. The factors that might affect the personnel empowerment were taken from a study in the literature and subjected to an explanatory factor analysis. The structure of the scale determined by explanatory factor analysis was subjected to a confirmatory factor analysis, in order to confirm its validity for structure. It is thought that the validated structure scale to be used in local researches for personnel empowerment applications will be a guideline for the managers. The scale development study was carried out with SPSS (AMOS) package program and, a new local scale was developed, being differently from the already known “the employee's role in the enterprise” scale which existed in the literature consisting of 4 dimensions and 12 questions
