Investigation of Parameters Affecting The Temperature Distribution in Wood with Different Finite Element Softwares

Abstract:

In this study, convective heating process of wood material with rectangular shape was examined. First of all, Navier Stokes equations were solved by using a finite element programme for the flow field. After that average heat transfer coefficient on surface was calculated by using Standart k- ? Turbulence Model. Heat transfer equation were solved with two different finite element programmes using boundary conditions at the surface dependent on time. Temperature distributions inside the solid were obtained for three different air velocity (1 - 1,5 - 2 m/s) for two hundred seconds. Furthermore, the analysis were made for different air temperatures (50°C -80°C -110°C -140°C) using Ansys and Comsol programmes. The mathematical model for equations was formed by using fourier heat conduction law. The results of the numerical analysis which obtain from the two different programs were compared. Moreover, the results obtained in this study were compared with the result obtained from a numerical and experimental studies in the literature and the results were found to be compatible
