Metaphorical Perceptions of High School Students Regarding School Principal

This research tried to determine the perceptions of school principals regarding the school principals through the metaphors and also to determine whether the definitions related to the duties and responsibilities of the school principals are in accordance with the perceptions of the school principals perceptions in the Regulation of the Ministry of Education secondary education institutions. For this purpose, the participating students, “Director of the school ............ similar; ...........” a sample table of fifty (50) metaphors is presented under a semi-structured problem. The participants consist of high schools in Antalya in 2017 – 2018 academic year. In this study, different types of schools were taken into consideration. Permission has been obtained from the Provincial Directorate of National Education to carry out the research in a healthy way. According to the results obtained from the survey, the general perceptions of the school principals of the participants are negative. Among the 10 metaphors produced by all participants, the highest number was the discipline Machine, Teaching Leader, Keeper, Technical Director, Dictator, Authoritarian Power, Brain, King, Shepherd, Ship Captain, Respectively. As a result of categorical classification of metaphors “being hard and oppressive", have been preferred most The participants produced metaphors in categories such as “enlightenment”, “being valuable” and “educating”
