Determination of the Relationship Between Self-Handicapping and Burneout of Nursing StudentsKeywords: Hem?irelik ??rencisi,kendini sabotaj,tükenmi?lik Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between self-handicapping and burneout of nursing students. In the study which was carried out descriptively, the population consisted of all students attending the nursing department of a state university during the first semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, and the sample group consisted of the students who were volunteer to participate (n=338) in the study on the date when the data were collected. The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Self- Handicapping Scale (SHS) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). In evaluating the data, the number, percentage, mean and Spearman correlation analysis test were used. 47.3% (n=160) of 338 nursing students who participated in the study were 3rd-grade and 52.7% (n=178) were 4th-grade students and the average age was 21.30±1.15 years. 72.2% (n=244) of the students stated that their school success was at the medium level and 77.1% (n=259) stated that they were satisfied with their department. It was identified that there was a low-level positive significant correlation between emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation in the subgroups of SHS and MBI (r=.351, p=.000; r=.316, p=.000, respectively).
