Metaphorical Perceptions of Teachers towards School, School Manager and Student’s Parents

The purpose of this study is to determine teachers’ perceptions regarding the concepts of school, school manager and student’s parents by means of metaphors. The study also aims to make holistic evaluations through the metaphors produced for each concept, with the idea that school, school manager and student-parents concepts are intertwined and interrelated. This research was carried out in a phenomenological pattern which is one of the qualitative research methods. The study group was composed of primary, secondary and high school teachers affiliated to Elaz？？ Provincial National Education Directorate in the academic year of 2017-2018. In the research 40 teachers were reached with the method of random sampling. The research data was obtained from the study group by completing the blanks in the sentences given in the form of "School is like…. Because ... ", "School manager is like…... Because ... " and "Student’s parents are like ... Because ... " The data were analyzed by content analysis method. When the metaphorical expressions of the teachers were divided into the themes, the study indicated that the perceptions regarding school as a living space related to the school concept; school manager as a leader related to the concept of the school manager and student’s parents as a main component related to student’s parents was high
