Determination of the spirutual support perception of intensive care unit nurses: a pilot studyKeywords: Yo?un bak?m ünitesi,hem?ire,manevi destek,manevi bak?m Abstract: Aim: The objective of this study is to determine the perceptions of intensive care unit nurses about the patients’ need of spiritual care. Material and Methods: The study is descriptive. The research was conducted with 67 nurses working at the intensive care units of a state hospital located in the Mediterranean region in 2016. In the collection of the data, the personal information form designed by researchers by performing the literature review and Spiritual Support Perception Scale was used. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, and Bonferroni Correction Mann Whitney U Test analyzes were used to evaluate the data. Results: Mean age of nurses were 30.98±4.86 years and 68.7% were female. Nurses 74.6% undergraduate degree and 49.3% 1-5 years working in intensive care unit. It was found that mean total average of Spiritual Support Perception Scale of nurses 47.91±5.52. It was found that there is statistically significant difference among the spiritual support perceptions of nurses according to their work in the intensive care unit (p<0.05). This difference was determined that is nurses working in the internal medicine intensive care unit. Conclusion: As a result, found to affect spiritual support perceptions levels of nurses; their work in the intensive care unit variable. In addition, the determined level of spiritual support perceptions was high of the nurses participated in the research
