Abstract:

Ayten Mutlu published her first poetry book in 1984. She made translations from contemporary poets from English to Turkish. She prepared a comprehensive anthology which many women poets take part in for the purpose of promote their poems from old ages to today. Her poetry books issued in India, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania and France. Nature, time, love and society are the main themes of Ayten Mutlu's poems. The poet reflects her view of life in the light of these themes and captures a unique and simple voice in her poems. Emphasizing the inability of the human in time to her poems, the injustice of nature and the injustice of love, Mutlu happily announces the song of the society she lives in to the reader. According to Ayten Mutlu, the measure of societies' development is the value given to women. The increasing role of women in society is reflected in the world of poetry. In her writings on poetry, she also reflects her views on the poems of the poet Mutlu in her poems. Questioning the role of women in history and mythology, Ayten Mutlu criticizes the strict rules of patriarchal order. In her poems, nature is effective as poem subject. She tells the uncontaminated and untouched story of geography by humans; leaf, tree, wind and sea. In her writings, she opens the new windows to reader by touching on ‘the painful history of woman and especially their struggle of existence’, in her poems, she reflects the history and Greek mythology, the love on the axis of the woman body. The aim of this study is to show Ayten Mutlu's method of writing poems and sources of poetry. Mutlu, who makes references to the poems of her earlier poets, reflects the cultural bearing characteristics of the language in her poems
