The Siege of Nisibis of Tajuddawla Tutush (1093) and the Effect on his Struggle of the SultanateKeywords: Nusaybin,Tacü’d-devle Tutu?,Sel?uklular,Berkyaruk Abstract: A lot of cities in Mesopotamia have been surrounded for many times in the historical process. Nisibis, a city that draws the Roman-Iranian border line, which has a separate place among the cities in this region, has experienced the most difficult siege. Especially Shapur II [309-379] the king of the Sasanids, three tough sieges of has a separate importance in the history of this city. Although Nisibis lost his strategic position after the Islamic domination of the borders, in the context of ongoing political contests in the region this city was subjected to many difficult sieges during this period. Among these, the most violent one was realized in 1093 by Tajuddawla Tutush the Saldjuqid prince. This siege, which Tutus seized forcibly due to the resistance of the people, left traces of pain in the minds of Muslim writers of the period and was sadly remembered.
