EVALUATION ON THE PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION IN FOREIGN FILMS AND TELEVISION PROGRAMMES

This study was conducted to examine the translation problems encountered in foreign television programmes and films. Within the scope of the study, the channels especially broadcasting foreign programmes translated from English have been watched for about four months, Translation errors observed in the programmes were detected and suggestions for cause and prevention of them were tried to be presented. The identified mistakes and their correct expressions based on the Turkish Language Institution’ dictionaries were tried to be categorized. It is aimed to draw attention to the translation problems in foreign television programmes and to contribute transfering the Turkish language with its natural beauty to the future generations
