TELEVISION AND ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS: A FIELD STUDY IN KONYAKeywords: Ya?l?l?k,Ya?l?lar ve Televizyon,Ya?l?lar ve Medya,Televizyon ?zleyicileri,Ya?l?lar?n Ya?am Doyumu Abstract: Elderly people are the most important consumers of television, and the fact that TV watching times are significantly higher than other age groups makes older people and television relations important. An increasing number and proportion of elderly population in the world and in Turkey shows again the need to investigate the relationship of television and old people. This points to the importance of working. The purpose of the study is to investigate the elderly people's preference for television, viewing times, reasons and programs in the context of media use, and the relationship between life satisfaction and loneliness axis. The study was conducted in Konya City between May 28- June 9, 2018 with 210 old people by face-to-face survey method. According to the findings of the study, it is found that elderly people prefer television, radio and newspaper, respectively, and social media is the least preferred medium. Participants in the survey had a preference for the main news bulletin and the domestic series, they watch on TV approximately five hours a day for following the latest cases and evaluating leisure time. The program preferences differ according to genders
