Exploring The Relationship Between Secondary School Students’ Levels of Scientific Values Tendency and Their Interest in Professional Fields of STEM

The purpose of this research is to investigate the correlation between secondary school students’ levels of scientific tendency and their interest in the professions in the field of STEM. The sample of the research is composed of middle school students studying at public school. Data were collected with “Scientific Values Tendency Scale” and “Scale of Interest to STEM Professions”. A positive and moderate collection between students’ levels of scientific tendency and their interest in the professions in the field of STEM (r=.448; p<.001). It was also found that the Curiosity and Creativity sub-dimensions are variables that are of relevance to the STEM profession, and the two dimensions account for %20,5 of the total variance. While there is no significant difference in the level of students regarding STEM professions in terms of class level, there is a significant difference in terms of “engineering” and “technology” in terms of gender
