Abstract:

Thank social network sites, a new era has been started in human interaction. Firms are also trying to exist and visible in social networking sites like individuals do. In addition to this, the company executives have adapted to this change, and have begun to use social networking sites for various purposes. It is important to show the motivation behind the usage of social networking sites of individuals, more specifically of managers. The purpose of this study is to reveal the motivations of social network sites usage of managers, by doing this a scale could be formed specifically for managers. It is also intended to reveal whether the demographics of the managers lead to changes in these motivations. In this context, data collected from a sample of 772 people were analyzed. According to the results of the analysis, the main motivations for using the social network sites by the managers are could be collected under four headings (business and information, entertainment, communication, and sharing). Furthermore, it has been determined that managers' generations, the time they spend on the social network sites and their gender have statistically significant differences in the motivations of using social network sites
