Quantum Dot Solar CellsKeywords: Enerji,Kuantum nokta,Güne?,Nano,teknoloji Abstract: In this study, quantum dots (QDs) that are considered to be one of the most important products of nanotechnology, and their applications in the solar cell technology have been investigated. QD solar cells, a promising alternative to traditional solar cells, offer numerous advantages over existing ones in terms of efficiency and manufacturing costs. QDs are regarded as artificial atoms and can be derived from different groups of the periodic table (e.g. II-VI or III-V). Hence, they can be produced from almost all semiconducter and metal compunds. Quantum dot solar cell have the potential to raise the maximum obtainable thermodynamic transformation efficiency of solar photon transformation up to about 66% by utilizing photogenerated couriers to produce greater photo voltages or greater photo currents. Three different quantum dot solar cell structures are outlined: (1) metal semiconducter junction solar cell, p-i-n structure solar cell and quantum dot sensitized nanocrystalline (TiO2)
