Analyzing of the Relationship between Adjustment to University Life and Differentiation of Self in University Students

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the level of adjustment to university life and the level of differentiation of self in the university students. The sample of research consists of a total of 276 university students, 68 % female (189 female students) and 32 % male (87 male students), who studied in various departments of a state university and voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. The study was conducted by relational screening model. In order to determine the level of differentiation of self of participants, “The Differentiation of Self Inventory”; in order to determine the level of integration into university life, "Adjustment to University Life Scale" were used. Data analysis were conducted with SPSS 23.0 statistical package program in .05 and .01 significance levels. All datas were analyzed by correlation and linear regression. It was seen in the research findings that there is a moderately positive and meaningful association between adaptation to the university life and self-discrimination. According to this, it can be said that as the level of self-identification of university students increases, the level of adaptation to university life increases. It has been revealed that self-differentiation of university students positively predicts the level of adaptation to university life. It can be said that the level of adaptation of the students to the life of the university is explained by the differentiation of self the students
