A Content Analysis of Publications on Vocational School, Vocational School Students and Faculty Members

This study intends to explore the trends in the field of vocational schools, vocational school students and faculty members during the period of 2000 and 2016. The trends were determined to be in the categories of research topics, journal categories, number of authors, research designs, data collection methods, data analysis methods and sampling sizes. The keywords of “vocational school training, vocational school education, vocational school students, vocational student faculty members” (the keywords were used in Turkish) were used in Google Scholar in order to retrieve the research papers that were published in Turkey between 2000 and 2016. The search results were evaluated to find out the research that mainly focused on training in vocational school, vocational school students and faculty members. The resulting 238 research papers were evaluated using content analysis methodology. The study identified that 2015 was the year that had the highest number of research in these topics. Also journals specialized in vocational school topics had the most number of research in these topics. Research papers with two authors were preferred. Most commonly used research topics focused in vocational school students. Quantitative research design was most commonly used. The sampling size of 101-200 interval had the highest frequency. The quantitative methods of frequency, percentage and average were most commonly used among the research papers. The findings of this research is believed to be useful for the future work in the research areas for vocational schools
