A Comparison of Views of Faculty Members and Students on Face-to-Face Learning Processes and Practices

Abstract:

This study, which is planned and conducted in accordance with the survey model for the purpose of comparison between faculty members and students’ views on the face-to-face teaching process and classroom practices in the courses of Computer and Instructional Technology Education (CITE). The research was performed with the participation of 119 students, who continue to degree programs of the Ankara, Gazi, K?r?kkale and Middle East Technical Universities, and 31 instructors officiated at the programs mentioned above in these universities. Course Evaluation Form that was used to collect instructors’ views related to their lessons during the semester and Course Observation Form which was used to collect students’ views related to lessons they have taken during the semester was developed by 14 faculty members’ expert opinion who officiated in Departments of Computer Education and Instructional Technology, Measurement and Evaluation and Turkish Education. According to the findings instructors stated they gave more importance to practice and application with regard to preferred methods, gained knowledge, skills and attitudes and provided learning experiences. However, students stated instructors less preferred practice and application contrary to the opinions of their instructors
