The Importance of Hygiene and Sanitation on the Job Training in the Tourism Business; The Sample of Konya City

This study was conducted to determinethe "hygiene and sanitation" knowledge before and after taking hygiene lessons in university students and to determine the effect of on - the - job training and active learning process. Total 89 students participated (Necmettin Erbakan University Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department under graduate students) in there search; Demographic characteristics of the students were determined by questionnaires with reliability analysis and statistical tests such as Correlation Analysis, Mann-Whitney U and Chi-Square Test were evaluated. According to findings, it was determined that there is no significant difference between demographic variables and hygiene expectancy. It was founded that the number of ones who did not receive hygiene education are more than Hygiene expectation fulfillment levels of ones who received hygiene education. Inaddition, it was determined that there is a positive correlation between hygiene knowledge level and hygiene expectancy. These results led to the expectation that the students who will choose/chose on-the-job training will have higher expectations from the sector. Thus, it appears that the students tend to develop themselves and they are working to orient hygiene information to the sector as desired. This study emphasizes that on-the-job training / practices are important in every field as it is in the field of tourism
