The Spatial Reflections of The Socio-Economic Structures of Izmir Neighborhoods from Ottoman to Present-Day

The neighborhood is a minor settlement which is located in a narrow space, dominated by personal relationships and in which the residents can reach the common urban amenities readily. Furthermore, the other features of neighborhood are being cultural, cooperation, economic and administrative unit. Hence, the periodical social and economic development of the neighborhood corresponds to the evolutions of present-day metropolis till the ancient period cities. In this sense, Izmir is one of the unique cities with its cosmopolitan structure and the periods that the city passed. In this study, the changes and transformations of Izmir’s neighborhoods are aimed to discuss in the light of the Ottoman period to date
