RELAT？ONS W？TH NON-MUSL？MS ？N THE OTTOMAN ESTABL？SHMENT PERIOD

Abstract ？t is not right to limit the refuge of non-Muslim subjects to the Ottoman rule only by the understanding of tolerance, justice, and equality that the Ottoman Beys exhibited. As it is known, administrative, financial and religious politics, which the Byzantine Empire followed, constituted the main source of dissatisfaction among the people. The Byzantine subjects preferred not to enter the Ottoman administration, which provided goods and life security within a slight tax, subject to an empire that protected and defended themselves but only with a heavy tax. The topic of this work is discussed in two parts. The first part ise political relations with non-Muslims during the establishment period of the Ottoman Empire. In this section, the political relations of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi with the Byzantine Empire until 1334 will be given. In the other part, the relation of Osman and Orhan Gazis with non-Muslim subjects will be discussed
