Thinking Environmental Social Work Practices in Turkey

The deterioration of ecological balance with globalization creates some problems such as global warming, climate change, environmental pollution, and disasters. This requires implementation of some policies towards enviroment. In this context, various disciplines, especially natural sciences, develop various professional measures on environmental problems and the environment becomes a professional agenda. In the social work profession, since the 1970s, problems in the physical environment take place in the professional agenda and various social work approaches have been developed in this framework. On the other hand, various social work practices towards the environment have been carried out in the context of the relationship between social work which is a development profession, and sustainable development. In this study, in the context of the eco-critical social work approach and sustainable community development approach on environment, the knowledge, skills and values of social work practices for the environment in the framework of practices on individual, group and community level as well as social work practices for the environment their applications in Turkey are examined
