Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the mediation effect of the personality on the relation between innovation and entrepreneurship with regard to the generations “X” and “Y”. The sample group of the study consists of the employees working in the banking sector in ?stanbul. 620 people, who had been picked through random sampling method, were involved in the study. When the participants are examined in terms of the generation they belong to (either X or Y), it is seen that 302 participants belong to the generation “X” whereas 318 belong to the generation “Y”. The data from the study were gathered through online Google forms and face to face meetings. Occupational Personality Inventory, Entrepreneurial Potential, and Tendency Scale and Individual Innovativeness Perception Scale were employed as a means of data collection. As a result of the analyses of the gathered data, it can be stated that a partial mediation effect of occupational personality exists on the relation between innovation and entrepreneurship when the generation “X” is considered. On the other hand, when the generation “Y” is considered, a definite effect can be mentioned. Within this context, the study inquires the mediation effect of the personality on determining the relation between innovation and entrepreneurship considering the generations "X" and "Y". Moreover, the concepts innovation and entrepreneurship have been evaluated and the relation between them has been tried to be explained within the study. The concept “personality” has been evaluated and studied considering the generations “X” and “Y”. The study is believed to provide an added value to the organizations particularly in terms of human resources when the fact that mentioned two generations with different characteristics work together in professional life is considered. Keeping in mind the effect of these generations with different characteristics on innovation-entrepreneurship relation of the organizations in professional life is regarded to be quite important. In addition, the study is expected to contribute to the literature since any kind of similar title for the subject of the study does not exist
