Mustafa Kemal Pasha and the Alphabet Revolution

Especially from the second half of the 19th century, reform movements in language had started in the Ottoman Empire. Because Arabic cannot satisfy Turkish language and grammar differences of two languages there have been reform thoughts in Arabis language but owing to the religious character of Arabic language these reforms couldn't be realised. Within time lots of different thoughts including a new alphabet put forward and different studies had done about this subject. After the establishment of the Turkish Republic, this studies, with the leadership of president Mustafa Kemal Pasha, gained acceleration. The expected alphabet revolution came with the law accepted by Turkish Grand National Assembly on 1st November 1928. With this paper, it is aimed to put forth the process of the revolution from the Ottoman era to the republican period
