RELIGION-CONTEMPLATION RELATIONSHIP

The concept of contemplation holds an important place in religious terminology. It is so because the concept of contemplation and other terms with similar meanings are often mentioned in the Qur’an. The significance of contemplation from religious and moral perspective is emphasized often. Attention is also drawn to the negative outcomes that may be caused by lack or absence of contemplation. This study deals briefly with the concepts of religion and contemplation. In addition, the essence of the relationship between religion and contemplation is analyzed with references to the verses related to contemplation in the Qur’an. This study also provides some information about the means and barriers of contemplation. Finally, this study provides some necessary evaluations for the present time with a focus on the positive outcomes brought about by the Qur’anic contemplation
