Effect of Stirrers with Same Surface Area Size and Different Shape Structure on Field Uniformity in Reverberation Chamber Test Environment

Abstract:

Reverberation chambers finding usability in EMC test applications have been receiving considerable attention due to their installation cost. They require walls of room to be covered with high conductivity materials that the electric field components should be distributed through reflection to build uniform electric field volume in it. But these phenomena cannot happen itself, and it may be obtained by rotary metal plates called mixer installed in the chamber. In this study, the effect of mixer shape on electric field uniformity was investigated by using 5 different geometric structure mixer shape (square, triangle, circle, vertical and horizontal rectangle) having same surface area (1.96m2). It has been observed that the reverberation chambers designed with the horizontal rectangle shape stirrer is clearly superior to chambers with other shape of stirrers. Therefore, it was concluded that the geometric shape of the stirrer has a significant effect on the electric field uniformity
