Are Prospective Teachers Qualified at Teaching Practice (A Phenomenological Study)Keywords: ??retmen adaylar?,??retmenlik uygulamas?,??retmen yeterlikleri Abstract: The efficiency of the education system in a country depends on the quality and quantity of the human power needed by the society. Thus, the teacher is considered as one of the most strategic parts of the education system. The objectives in the education system can be achieved by raising teachers who are qualified, who love their profession and who have knowledge of the subject, knowledge of the field and pedagogical knowledge. Teaching practice course is a course where teacher candidates trained at education faculties implement their knowledge, skills, attitude and habits related with general culture, special field education and teaching profession in a real education and training environment. The aim of the study is to determine the competences of the prospective teachers at pedagogical formation certificate program. The study is a qualitative one and modeled according to the phenomenological research. The applied strategy is triangulation. The data collected by interviews, observations and document review is analyzed by descriptive analysis method and interpreted. In conclusion, it is found that the prospective teachers are competent at professional field, teaching profession and cultural knowledge while they are incompetent at preparing lesson plan, designing material, evaluation and recording. From the conclusions, it is suggested to make the practice lessons spread over a longer period, to organize the course content related with lesson plan and material preparation and to make arrangements to increase the confidence of teacher candidates at the practice school
