Practices of a Female Bonesetter in Mersin

Traditional medical practices, which are as old as human history, have survived and have continued to exist and have come to life today as a result of man's struggle with nature. The fracture-dislocation is different from other healing methods in terms of traditional treatment intervention. In our country, traditional post-traumatic treatment methods continue to exist in daily practice. The collection and recording of the specific healing practices of women's classmates is important for folk medicine practices. In this study, the methods of a folk healer living in Mersin and practicing traditional therapies for fracture-dislocation and vascular problems are examined. An 86-year-old woman living in the province of Mersin was taken as a slaughter source. It was visited twice by the researchers in their natural environment where the nephew was living. The subject of this study is the general practitioner/physician who deals with fractures, dislocations and tissue damage, as well as some other applications such as back sagging, groin swelling, and pustular disease. Though medically unreliable and often harmful today, bonesetters are still consulted in alternative treatment process. Some of the practices performed by bonesetters may have medical hazards and may delay the application of modern medicine
