Determination of the factors affecting the motivation in learning: An application on Isparta Vocational School students

Motivation is one of the most important factors influencing the learning process and success of students. Motivation in education can be increased by applying many different approaches. These approaches have significant impacts on the learning process of students. Problems arise in learning when students are not motivated consistently. The main objective of the study is to examine the basic motivational elements of the first and second year students in the Design, Marketing and Advertising Departments of Isparta Vocational School. The study also aims to provide suggestions on ways that educators can use to motivate their students. In the study, the effect of the main motivation theories on learning is investigated and then a questionnaire is applied on 264 students studying in the School. The results of the questionnaires are evaluated with using SPSS (20.0), statistical package program. frequency distributions and cross tabulations were calculated and the factors affecting their motivations were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal Wallis test with hypotheses.
