Hastal?klar?,depresyon, anksiyete Abstract: Abstract Objective: We aimed to investigate the relationship between depression-anxiety frequencyand biochemical parameters in patients admitted to the Internal Medicine Policlinic. Materials and Methods:401 patients who applied to Ordu University-Ministry of Health Education and Research Hospital Internal Medicine policlinic between 2012-2014with various complaints were taken into the study. Beck Anxiety and Depression Scale were administered. According to the complaints of the patients, the results of the de-sired examination (hemogram, biochemistry, hormone, HbA1c) were recorded. Results: Of the 401 patients studied, 325 were female(81%) and 76 were male (19%). The mean age was 50.07± 14.23 (min 18 -max 84). 401 Patient Beck-Anxiety and Beck-Depression questionnaires were administered. 54.9%(n = 218) mild anxiety, 35.9% (n = 144) middle anxiety and 9.7% (n = 39) severe anxiety symptoms were included in the Beck-Anxiety Questionnaire. 39.9% (n = 160) were normal, 29.2% (n = 117) were mild depression, 15.2% (n = 61)were depressed and 15.7% (n = 63) Severe depression was diagnosed. In those with severe anxiety in our study, we found a significantly higher level of uric acid compared to those with mild to moderate anxiety. There was also positive correlation between anxiety severity and uric acid. We havenot found any correlation with other blood parameters. Conclusion: Beck anxiety and Beck depression questionnaire for the patients with complaints to the outpatient cli-nic and chronic illnesses can be used to diagnose unexplai-ned and / or hidden anxiety and depression disorders earlyand appropriate treatment. Elevations in serum uric acid levels seem to be protective against anxiety disorders. It would be appropriate to demonstrate the pathophysiological andclinical effects of this in larger studies
