Abstract:

There are various hit options in badminton sport. The players basically perform their hits in each part of the badminton court, which is divided into three areas (front-middle-back). It was considered important that examining scoring and failing hits of the players regarding their positions on the court and analyzing statistical distribution of their hits would contribute to the training programs. The main objective of this study is to determine the hit variety and frequency of the international level under-15 players and to analyze the scoring and failing hits. Besides, to evaluate the analysis of scoring and failing hits according to the positions of the players, thus to determine the reason behind the failing hit. In this research study, under-15 (average age; 14,45± 0,32) Women’s Singles (WS) competitions were examined in the 5th International Rumi Child Sports Games, in which 6 countries (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, and Georgia) participated. Seven WS competitions were examined via two cameras from different perspectives. 2071 hits were analyzed according to the positions of the players who made the hits. The statistical evaluation was carried out by means of frequency analysis in SPSS 21.0 program. At the end of the research study, it was determined that the players mostly perform lift (22,1 %) and net-drop (20,1 %) hits. Moreover, it was observed that they preferred smash (26,6 %) among scoring hits. Besides, it was detected that the players mostly failed in net-drop (20,2 %) hits, and that the most frequent fault was net fault (51,7 %) among the failed hits. As the conclusion, it is suggested that the trainers working with younger groups should consider the areas on the court that the players make the scoring/failing hits and should make exercises to minimize the net faults on the areas that the most faults were recorded
