Depression Of The Individual In Modern City Life In The Works Named “The Southern Highway” And “Narla ？ncire Gazel”

Bilge Karasu is one of the most important writers of Turkish literature in the Republican period. In his novel Narla ？ncire Gazel, a wish to get rid of the way of living that limits one’s personality was handled in detail. This work has autobiographical features regarding the traces of the author’s holidays in Side in various times. In this work, it is told how an individual feels free and happy in a different place and ambience in which various paradigms rule the way of living, and then how he feels obliged to get back to his ordinary life. A similar approach is seen in well-known Argentinian author Julio Cortazar’s story The Southern Highway. This work takes place around The Southern Highway that leads to Paris. In this story, it is told how people get used to a new situation caused by a traffic jam that lasts for weeks until when they finally get back to their daily life with the traffic flow. In this study, both works were primarily analysed separately, then they were compared in a thematic way regarding their similar features
