Eating and drinking is an important element of the culture in which the individual belongs rather than a biological need. With its rich content originating from its deep-rooted past, Turkish cuisine has provided a wide range of opportunities for our authors. Refik Halit Karay, Ahmet Rasim and Ahmet Midhat Efendi, and many other writers, benefited from these opportunities and provided food and beverage elements in the form of literary works, thus, they ensured the continuation of Turkish culinary culture through literature. Ahmet Hamdi Tanp?nar, who looks at the environment around his vast knowledge and experience as a person of culture and art, is not indifferent to the relation of eating and drinking with literature. In his fictional texts and his fictitious texts that reflect his life, he takes care of eating and drinking from different angles. The author, who is captured by human beings in his diaries and letters, turns to the issue in his fictional texts with the aesthetic outlook he directs to the national culture. In his second type of works, the details he gave about eating and drinking were also used in the constructive function of fiction.
