Abstract:

The aim of this study is to find out spatial problems about destination with a group that participated in outdoor educational activities and to bring solution offers to these problems. Thus, it was tried in the study to determine whether outdoor education has an impact on the determination of the problems in situ and on the development of a solution to these problems. In this study, which was carried out in accordance with the action research pattern of qualitative research methods, a trip was organized to ?ahinkaya Canyon in Vezirk?prü town of Samsun province with a group of 27 consisting of students in their last year at Ondokuz May?s University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Geography. After the trip was completed, the students were given a form to present the current problems related to ?ahinkaya Canyon destination and to explain what needs to be done in order to solve these problems. The data of the students were subjected to document analysis and the data were evaluated with descriptive analysis and content analysis technique. When all analyses were evaluated, it was determined that outdoor educational activity was effective in determining spatial problems in situ and developing solutions to these problems. For this reason, it is very important for the curriculum to include activities that can allow for outdoor educational activities, to include studies that can enable outdoor educational activities in schools, to provide education to educators about the whole process from planning to evaluation of outdoor educational activities and to encourage students to participate in such activities
